This is my friend Sam Yong. Best known for his infamous illustration of Lorde, back when she was a faceless enigma.
I used to like watching him paint random scenes of fantasy as his fancy was taken. And now he does these beautiful, intricate drawings. They make me seethe with jealously and wish I had more creative talent.
Abstract. Surreal. Grotesque. Animalistic. Emotional. Beautiful. Fanciful. Chaos meets harmony, and the unreal meets the real. It makes for some striking images.
I’ve always had a penchant, and childlike awe for the creatively talented, and swear Sam’s works will inspire the same sentiment.
A selection of his art below. Check out his website or gallery if you’re local to Melbourne.
